My wife gave me a T-shirt that elicits responses wherever I go. It says, "I (heart) naps."

Turns out that some people, including yours truly, have a hard time getting through the day without a brief afternoon nap. Non-nappers, like my wife, are destined to go through life never knowing the fabulous feeling one gets from a mid-day recharge.

I'm convinced the world would be a better place if we could all carve out a little more time for relaxation. A great place to start finding that extra time? By spending less of it managing, moving and messing with money.

Back in 2004, I wrote a book called Money Made Simple: How to Flawlessly Control Your Finances in Minutes a Year. The theme of that book was that you can master money in minutes a year.

Here's the thing about money: Unlike with some other things in life, investing extra time to manage your family's finances doesn't necessarily add up to extra rewards. More pain doesn't always mean more gain. Burning the candle at both ends doesn't always lead to a brighter future.

In short, by streamlining and putting everything possible on auto-pilot, it's still possible to stay on top of your finances and still have a little hammock time.

You just have to know how to do it.

That's what this week's "Money!" podcast is about. We're going to talk about how to streamline and automate your money, so you expend as little time and effort as possible, while still reaping maximum rewards.
